One painted mini a day! Ottoman Officer
I am slow painter, because I love to paint lots of details, shadows and highlights on my minis. I want to push myself in miniature painting and I try to paint at one mini a day (cavalry counted as two minis). No day without painted miniature! Today I proud to present you Ottoman Officer.

Ottoman Commander or first head-swap experience! - part1
I was very pleased with "Peter Pig" Ottomans/Egyptians. I love their sculpts and variety of poses, but lack of regular cavalry and mounted commanders upsets me. So I decided to make my first head-swap ever! I was worried a bit, but procedure appears to be quite easy, so I made step-by step guide. In this guide I show you all steps of creating a mounted Ottoman army commander.
Firstly you need to buy a pack called "67. Mounted Brit cavalry sergeants" and take the guy on the left of the photo. Horses are provided separately in four poses, so you can choose the horse for your future army commander.
Firstly you need to buy a pack called "67. Mounted Brit cavalry sergeants" and take the guy on the left of the photo. Horses are provided separately in four poses, so you can choose the horse for your future army commander.
Then you need to use very sharp modeling knife to cut his head off. Its not very difficult procedure and metal is very soft and easy to cut.
Then you need Ottoman head from pack called "24. Fez Egyptians" of this range
Then just use superglue to glue the head to the body of rider. You can use greenstuff to fill some gaps.

Colonial cards for GRUNTZ
I am currently working on 15mm Colonial and Victorian Science Fiction cards for "Gruntz 15mm SCI-Fi" rules.
I made these with my sister (http://art-4heart.blogspot.com.au/) using OSPREY books illustrations. Card design was inspired by Empire Total War game interface and it was combined with various imagery.

Ottoman Empire
While working on two 10 man units of British Empire, I've decided to order some other Victorian Era soldiers to fight with Brits. I was thinking about French, Germans, Russians but then I decided to get some Turks, because I love uniforms of the Ottoman Empire! There were only minor changes in their uniform in second half of 19 century and beginning of 20 century, when they change it to khaki uniform of WW1.
For my Ottomans I decided to use Peter Pig Egyptians from Sudan Range, because they use the very similar uniform.
And also some of Bashi Bazouks (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bashi-bazouk):
Sadly Peter Pig don't have any Egyptian cavalry to be used as Ottoman regular cavalry. So maybe I'll buy some of the British horsemen and swap their heads with Egyptian ones from this range http://www.peterpig.co.uk/range6.htm

Barbed Wire
Photo of barbed wire section I made mounts ago. I used 28mm scale barbed wire from this shop http://www.freewebs.com/mbtandt/wargamingterrain.htm to add cartoony effect and made it more recognizable on battlefield. Peter Pig Sudan range 15mm Brits for scale comparison.
Another shot of barbed wire.
