Commander Battle mode in M&B: Napoleonic Wars

Today I tried a new multiplayer mode in Mount & Blade: Napoleonic Wars called Commander Battle, and this mode was AWESOME! In Commander Battle you have a battlefield with dozen of players per side. Each player is an officer and controls a platoon of soldiers. Before battle starts you can choose what type of unit you wish to command. You can command different types of line infantry, grenadiers, jagers, cavalry and artillery. Your officer is armed with sword and pistol and have a spyglass. You can control your unit using special commands. You can control movement, formation and firing mode of the unit. If you officer is killed, you will be automatically respawned in one of your soldiers. If all members of you platoon are dead, you will become a spectator and need to wait for end of the round. In spectator mode you can fly over the battlefield like a ghost.

My first game was a battle between Austria and England. I decided to join Austria and command a jager platoon. On the photo above you can see the back of my officer, two lines of my jagers at the right and two platoons of line infantry (white) and  genzers (brown coat, blue trousers) moving towards the brick building.

Here you can see Austrian cuirassiers on our right flank near the unmanned gun battery.

I saw British dragoons and commanded my platoon to...

... OPEN FIRE!
Jagers have killed some of dragoons, but they were to far for an accurate volley.

My unit moved towards the brick building where one of our officer have placed his line infantry.

So I placed my jagers in skirmish formation at front of our line infantry.

We saw some redcoats and fired at them.

But they were to far.

So my jagers moved closer.

Redcoats opened fire...

... and killed some of my men.

Cavalry to the rescue! Our cuirassiers and uhlans have killed the British unit, but then my platoon was killed by British rifles.

So in spectator mode I started to fly like a ghost above the battlefield. I took some screenshots for you to show you the aftermath. On the photo above you can see the British line decimating other jager unit.

Our line infantry fires at British rifles behind the tree line.

Rifles have captured our gun battery.

And killed of our artillery crew.

Then fired at our infantry.

And killed them with help of British line unit nearby. So the British Empire have won the round.

Mount & Blade Napoleonic Wars!!!!

Just bought Napoleonic Wars DLC for Mount & Blade Warband, so I can play Napoleonic battles online with hindred of players on the field. In "Napoleonic Wars" you can play as musketeer, officer, engineer, cavalryman, artillery crew and even as fifer, drummer, standard bearer and piper!!!!!

Life of Austrian fifer in M&B: Napoleonic Wars

HI! I want to share a small report of my first online match in Mount & Blade: Napoleonic Wars! This match was a battle between Austria and France for a small town. French forces are holding the town and Austria wants to capture it. For my first game I decided to play not as a musketeer, but as a fifer armed only with a sword!

Our men are advancing towards the small town. You can see musketeers, some jagers, officer and a standard bearer. My fifer is marching behind the charging Austrians while playing a tune.

More men are charging towards the town. Both armies are nearly 50 men strong. Unfortunately my fifer can't play a tune and run at the same time, so he is walking behind the running Austrians.

Two guys are marching near my fifer.

One of our officers was killed. I stopped and played a tune for him.

Cannon was deployed near the town, so I decided to inspire the gun crew.

Make ready! Aim!

FIRE!

Then I moved towards the town and found a dead soldier. I took his musket and cartridges.

Now I am armed!

There is serious fighing near the towns gate.

Frenches are firing through the windows! I found an enemy musketeer near the gate, so I aimed my musket...

...and fired! Then I saw that Austrians are using trees near the sides of the road for cover.

Ouch! French bullet took almost 90% of my health points! I need to find a cover.

Frenches are holding the gates. You can see lots of dead Austrians at the road.

I reloaded my musket.

And fired. There are too much smoke, so I don't know the result of my shot.

I inspired a jager...

... and moved towards a group of Austrians near the gate. Frenches are firing through the windows.

And I was killed. The end :)

Volley fire!

I found video battle report of Mount and Musker mod for Mount and Blade Warband.
This is online battle with REAL people fighting classical Napoleonic company battles with 3 ranks firing volleys. Unique experience to see what it was like to be in the company as ordinary musketeers. Interesting even if you don't play this mod. In this battle report French were to slow and first volley was made by Brits.

anvil of dawn in window mode without decktop

Dont like to see your descktop while playing games if window mode? Here is my secret! Dowload Super Nintendo emulator Snes9X v1.52 and open it under game window! Just look at before-after picture!

Anvil of Dawn downloads

If you want to download Anvil of Dawn, download only full ISO version, not the ripped one (without CGI movies in outer world).

Its a DOS game and to play it in windowed mode you need to download DOSBOX

And D-Fend utilily wich is very easy to use and the last version allreasy include Dosbos and all you need to play any dos games. Always use F3 button for Game adding Wizard. Then you just need to choose .exe file, remove selection of Fullscreen mode and that all:

Anvil of Dawn gameplay

Here are some videos showing Anvil of Dawn gameplay. As you can see its "Eye of Beholder" style game with handrawed characters and pseudo-3d backgrounds.

Intro movie. First halh is old school 3d.

This vid shows you begining of game. After choosing your character you woke up in Miledy cactle. Have a look at 06:45 for rune based magic system.

Here our hero teleports into another castle, and realises that in conquered by enemy

You may think that all game is entirely dungeon game with no outdoors landscapes. But its wrong. Have a look at 04:22 to see the travelling between locations on world map. Its Myst style. You click on road and see the CGI video of travel. A bit dated CGI for our times, but quite good for 90th games. Remember CGI in Lost Eden, Warcraft2 and Imperium Galactica 1!

Anvil of Dawn music

I want to tell you about my all time favourite fantasy game. Its Anvil of Dawn!

Quote from Wikipedia:
"
Anvil of Dawn is a 1995 computer game developed by DreamForge Intertainment and published by New World Computing.[1] It is one of the last "non-3D" first-person games. The player controls one of five characters with the quest to save the kingdom of Tempest. Each character has his or her own specialty (meaning different agility, strength, stamina, etc.). The story also changes depending on the character and each has a different ending.
