Toy soldiers dance party and new ERA on this blog.

I started rebasing my Lead Mountain Army. All my little lead men were so happy about their new shiny bases, so they decide to have a party on my painting table! Some even brought tanks and cars with them to have a ride around the table :) Its nice to see my little guys happy, and from now on I decided to write short stores about them in my future posts like Jay does. I introduced a new "STORY" label, so if you are interested in life of 15mm World inhabitants, just click on this label.

Zulu War Brits are having a friendly firefight with Great War Brits on a lamp, while their fans from different time period are watching. Remember, that toy soldiers cant harm each other and treat all fights like fun games. Battles and skirmishes on wargame tables are their favorite sport.

Ottoman Turks are watching the fight behind barbed wire barrier. Turks want to become the popular army among other toys soldiers, but they need more training.

Riders preparing for a friendly race. They want to show Americans that their lead horses are better than modern cars.

T-34 driver having a chat with giant crab. I am wandering what common topics they have :)

Soldiers, civilians, robots and aliens are dancing!

M113 gunner and Colonial Security (French Foreign Legionaries painted in blue and grey) are watching Lone Wanderer's Futterwacken dance

New 15mm washer!!!!!!

I've been basing my models on 18mm in diameter and 1,2mm height washers from Bunnings Warehouse. But I found that for some models  want to use smaller washers. I found 15mm washers and based some of my animals on them, but I wasn't satisfied with final result, because these 15mm washers are very thin, about 0.3mm in height.

But recently I found some new washers Bunnings Warehouse. These washers were sold not in packs but individually and have diameter of 15mm  and height of 1mm. So I rebased my Eytaran on new washer.

Now have a look at infantry and cavalry model based on 18mm washer with Eytaran on new 15mm washer! At last they all have same style. If you interested why Rebel Minis marine and Ottoman general have bronze base sides and Eytaran base side painted with Kommando Khaki, here is the answer: I paint  base sides of ordinary models with same colour as their bases sand, Unit leaders have blue base sides, squad attachments have red coloured base sides and army commanders have bronze base sides.

For big models I use 31mm washers.

P.S. Yes, I changed flock on Rebel Minis commander, so dont be confused why this model have different base on first and second photo.

Ottoman Commander or first head-swap experience! - part1

I was very pleased with "Peter Pig" Ottomans/Egyptians. I love their sculpts and variety of poses, but lack of regular cavalry and mounted commanders upsets me. So I decided to make my first head-swap ever! I was worried a bit, but procedure appears to be quite easy, so I made step-by step guide. In this guide I show you all steps of creating a mounted Ottoman army commander.

Firstly you need to buy a pack called "67. Mounted Brit cavalry  sergeants" and take the guy on the left of the photo. Horses are provided separately in four poses, so you can choose the horse for your future army commander.

Then you need to use very sharp modeling knife to cut his head off. Its not very difficult procedure and metal is very soft and easy to cut.

Then you need Ottoman head from pack called "24. Fez Egyptians" of this range

Then just use superglue to glue the head to the body of rider. You can use greenstuff to fill some gaps.

Colonial cards for GRUNTZ

I am currently working on 15mm Colonial and Victorian Science Fiction cards for "Gruntz 15mm SCI-Fi" rules.
I made these with my sister (http://art-4heart.blogspot.com.au/) using OSPREY books illustrations. Card design was inspired by Empire Total War game interface and it was combined with various imagery.
