Demon Duck of Doom!

I painted and based two Demon Ducks of Doom :) These are female birds, and males gonna have white feathers around their beaks. I really like this figures! For size comparison I included Masai warrior from Irregular Miniatures.

Bullockornis can also be used as mount for fantasy or sci-fi soldiers.

Weird Alien

Just painted very weird 15mm alien creature from Irregular Miniatures (code 5SF23). I really like this insectoid creature. It looks like mix of Reaper from X-Com game and creature from end of the movie Fly 2 (1989). This alien have carapace armor, some sort of plasma or acid gun on its left side and something like energy battery or breathing organ on its right side.

 After discovering 1mm height 15mm washers, I decided to rebase all my civilians on 15mm bases. All military figures will remain on 18mm washers. Here is a group shot of 6 civilians from different manufacturers.

15mm dogs rebased

Just rebased two dogs on my newly bought 15mm washers! These are 15mm "Irregular Miniatures" Labrador and Alsatian dogs from this range.

Here is size comparison between Alsatian dog and 15mm Laserburn range figure. I painted this dog as Dogmeat from Fallout 3.

Just made a small repaint of my two samurais from Irregular Miniatures. 

Wandering martial arts master

Just painted 15mm wandering martial arts master. Actually this is "Irregular Miniatures" Colonial range Boxer artillery crewman from FZ94 Jingal Light Gun pack.

Irregular Miniatures 15mm Maasai

15mm Maasai from Irregular Miniatures. These figures have only one pose, but plenty of variants.

Maasai with mustache, necklace and beard. These are only six figures but soon I paint 4 more figures to get 10-man unit.

Bornu bowmen

2 variant of Bornu bowmen from Irregular Miniatures link . I dont know how many variants they have, but I will order more.

Bornu and Arab horseman

Just painted another Bornu Musketman and repainted Arab horseman (I painted him 2 years ago and after my painting style have improved, I decided to repaint him). Bornu figure is from Irregular Miniatures and Arab from QRF "Franco-Prussian War" range link . Actually its not an Arab but repainted French Spahi horseman.

Camel

At last! After 3 years in my Lead Pile this Pack Camel was painted! Camel figure from "Irregular Miniatures" Animals range link and its code "FAN6".

Pack Camel next to Bornu Musketman figure from "Irregular Miniatures" Colonials range link (code "FZ133"). There are several variants of this Musketman, but I have only two. Another figure have same body but different head with beard and Fez.

Bornu

Bornu heavy cavalryman from "Irregular Miniatures" Colonial range (link). I made small greenstuff modifications of his helmet, beard and shoulders.

Newly found miniature basing secret!

Long time ago I made small tutorial about basing 15mm miniatureshttp://15mmworld.blogspot.com.au/2011/10/basing-tutorial.html where I used Citadel paint called Desert Yellow (Tallarn Sand in new Citadel paints range) to paint base sides.

Several mouths ago I found that if you use natural sand and Kommando Khaki (Karak Stone) paint for base sides and also you will have much better results!

Here is comparison photo of 4 miniatures based on 20mm washers. First figure is 80% painted Bornu from Irregular Miniatures with base sides painted with Desert Yellow, second figure is Peter Pig Egyptian Speaman with sand on its base and base sides painted with Desert Yellow, third figure is Irregular Miniatures Maasai Warrior with sanded base and base sides painted with Kommando Khaki, and fourth figure is Irregular Miniatures Settler from American Indian range with base sides painted with Kommando Khaki. As you can see figure bases on the left side look much better. Now I am going to repaint all my Desert Yellow base sides with Kommando Khaki

15mm Sepoy and updated painting technique!

I've just updated my painting technique and tested it on Irregular Miniatures 15mm figure from their Colonial range - FZ96 Sepoy Infantry marching ( http://www.irregularminiatures.co.uk/15mmRanges/15mmColonials.htm )

I used Citadel paint called Desert Yellow (Tallarn Sand in new Citadel paints range) for his base uniform color, then washed him using Gryphonne Sepia (Seraphim Sepia), then highlighted with Kommando Khaki (Karak Stone) and then small highlight with Bleached Bone (Ushabti Bone) :)

C09 Mounted Boer from Battleline Miniatures "Zulu War" range.

Irregular Miniatures "FZ117 Western Civilian Gentleman", "FZ118 Western Civilian Lady" and between them "JR02 Piper" from Battleline miniatures "18th Century - Jacobite Highlanders" range. There are at least 4 variants of Irregular civilians, so I am going to order rest of them.

Creatures and toys for 15mm!

I've decided to show you some toys which can be useful for 15mm. I took Irregular Miniatures 15mm "FZ103 British Bluejacket in straw hat" from Colonial range for size measurement.

Basing tutorial

Basing tutorial. I'll use Irregular Miniatures 15mm Ashanti figure

Glue your painted figure to base (I use 20mm washers)

Then you need sand with different sized grains.

Close shot of sand.

Cover base with PVA glue.

Place big sand grains first.

Then cover base with small sized sand grains.

Wait 1 or 2 hours and remove remove the base from sand pile.

Place small amount of PVA where you want to add grass.

Cover base with flock. For this tutorial I used Woodland Scenics Light Green Coarse Turf (T-62)

After 1 or 2 hours remove mini from flock pile. Now you have one more recruit in your army :)

Samurai

Some 15mm samurai samples from Irregular Miniatures. These figures are 2 variants of "FSA5 Foot Samurai with Sword" code. Accordind to this photo from their website there should be at least 3 more variants of swordsman.
